Gore Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Al Gore has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, due to his extensive efforts to educate the public about global warming, or as he calls it, climate change. Gore has been on a mission to help save the planet and his documentary film, An Inconvenient Truth, has been nominated for an Academy Award. He could win two of the biggest honors in 2007; the Oscar and a Nobel Prize. Nevermind he won the popular vote for President of the United States in 2000. Gore has a new book hitting stores this spring called The Assault on Reason; and he will be a great asset to the Democratic Party in winning back the White House next year.

This is great considering that for eight years there has been extreme pressure on scientists to paint a pretty picture of climate change (they either conformed or were fired). Finally, we are beginning to see the seriousness of the situation and the need for a radically different approach to environmental politics. Al Gore's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize represents this fundamental change. I'm going to check out his book.

Why doesn't he run for President? I can't hear about him winning the popular vote one more time.... he lost the election by a few chads and thats that. If he ran this time around it would be a landslide victory for Gore. He would crush the other candidates in the primary and beat out the GOP between the mess in Iraq, and the country's new found fear of climate change.
